Fifteen Minutes Is Not Much Time

A typical pediatric well-visit is 15 minutes. You have been accumulating questions and observations for weeks. The gap between the information you have and what you can convey in 15 minutes is significant — unless you've done some preparation. Your tracking data is one of the most useful preparation tools you have.

What Pediatricians Actually Want to Know

At well visits, your pediatrician will ask about: feeding frequency and amounts; sleep duration and overnight wake-ups; diaper output; developmental milestones; and any concerns. With a week of tracking data, you can answer every question with specificity. "About 8 or 9 feeds a day, I think" becomes "averaging 8.5 feeds per day over the last 7 days, with a consistent 2–3 hour gap." That precision helps your doctor help you.

Before the Appointment: What to Review

In the 24 hours before your visit, note: average feeds per day and whether trending up or down; longest overnight stretch; number of overnight wake-ups; total sleep per 24 hours; any anomalies. Write these down or screenshot the app — you will not remember them once you're in the exam room.

The Questions That Get Better Answers With Data

"Is she eating enough?" answered with "she seems hungry sometimes" is hard to assess. Answered with "she's averaging 7 feeds per day but the AAP recommends 8–12 for her age" — that's actionable. Data converts vague concerns into specific questions. Specific questions get specific answers.

The Question Your Doctor Always Appreciates

"Based on these numbers, is there anything you'd want me to watch?" This is the question that good tracking data makes possible — and that transforms a passive checkup into an active monitoring conversation.
